In this post, we will show you how to enable or disable reading list in Google Chrome. There are many new additions and improvements are added to Google Chrome, such as the addition of Reading List to the browser is one of the latest features. You might have noticed a new Reading list button on the right-hand side in the bookmarks bar in the Google Chrome browser.
This reading list allows you to save pages in a list to get back to later. It’s super slick and easy to use, and it helps keep your tab count down. If this feature is not yet enabled, you can follow the below steps to enable this feature for you and learn to add tabs to the reading list for your profile.
Enable Reading List in Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- To quickly access Reading list settings, type or copy and paste the following path into the address bar and press Enter.

- Select Enabled from the Reading List drop-down menu.

- Once done! changes will take effect after you relaunch Google Chrome.

- On the right-hand side of the bookmarks bar, Reading List button will be added to browser.
Add Tabs for Reading List in Google Chrome
- Go to site or page, Click on the Bookmark icon (star button) in the address bar or Right-click on the tab that you want to save for later, add in a reading list. Select Add to reading list.

- Click on Reading list to see what you have saved. You can find all the web pages, which will be classified into two categories, namely Unread and Read. The added page appears with Unread as shown below –

- Once you have read the added pages in the reading list, It will mark as read.

Disable Reading List in Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- To quickly access Reading list settings, type or copy and paste the following path into the address bar and press Enter.

- Select Disabled from the Reading List drop-down menu. The changes will take effect after you relaunch Google Chrome.

- You will see Reading List button is no longer available on the right side of the bookmarks bar.
